Scotiabank Calgary Marathon

So, I'm a little late on the update, but Sunday, May 31st was the Scotiabank Calgary Marathon. This year they had a Group Charity Challenge joining forces with 19 charities and allowing runners to 'run for a cause'. It was a huge success raising over $250,000. ARF was invited to be a charity and we also sponsored an aid station. ARF put together a team and called them the "Rescue Runners". We had a few participants in the half marathon and 10k, but to our surprise, we found many other individuals running for us in different events. It was very, very exciting! In total, I think ARF raised over $7,500, which is absolutely amazing.

We teamed up with MEOW  for the aid station and our volunteers did a great job keeping the runners motivated and hydrated... we even had a mascot navigating them around the corner into our station. I was told this brought a few smiles to some weary runners faces!

All in all, it was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who ran for ARF and to all our volunteers at the aid station. We couldn't have done it without you!

Hopefully we'll be out to do it again next year!
