Pet of the Week, Maddie!

This is Maddie. She joined ARF at the end of December with a litter of 5 puppies and she is about 2 years old. When she was rescued, she had a terrible coat, she was very, very skinny and full of worms. We're happy to report that she's coming along health-wise she is gaining weight and her coat is improving with proper nutrition. She is still a dainty little thing and likely won't be a very big dog.
Maddie currently lives in a home with 6 other dogs of all different sizes and personalities and she gets along with everyone extremely well. She can be a little bit grumbly when she first meets new dogs, but after a few minutes they are best of friends!

Maddie also loves, loves, loves playing. She would do really well in a home with another active dog who also enjoys playing. She'd do equally well in a home as an only dog as long as her new family was active and did a lot of activities with her. Her foster mom thinks that she would make an excellent running buddy or agility dog. Maddie would make a great family dog, but because she is so high energy, she should probably go to a home with older children.

When Maddie came into foster care, she did not know much about house training or a crate. She easily figured both of these things out though and is more than happy to spend time in her crate with a good bone to chew on. She even walks well on a leash! Maddie is also highly food motivated, making training a relatively easy process.

Maddie is an incredibly happy dog who truly loves her new life. She loves all people and and especially loves cuddling. Her foster mom says she is the best cuddler in the world!

If you are interested in adding a smart, playful, wonderful dog to your family, think of Maddie. She is a gem! You can fill out your application here!

  1. She sounds like a very sweet adult dog who is enjoying the lucky turn of events since being rescued by ARF. Good luck Maddie!
