Pet of the Week, Cricket!

It's been a while since Cricket was pet of the week and she's done a lot of growing up since then. She is pretty much full grown at 70 lbs, so she is a big girl, but she's all heart. She also has these huge brown eyes that are so expressive and full of love, she is incredibly good natured and has the sweetest disposition. I have spent a lot of time with Cricket, as I'm friends with her foster mom (thanks to ARF!), and I really do think she is a great dog. She's so happy, loving and sincere and I truly believe, whoever adopts her, is going to get a wonderful, dedicated companion out of her!

Cricket is such a people-pleaser, she tries really hard with her obedience and she just wants to do the right thing, all the time. She knows her basic commands and is fully house trained. She sleeps all night in her crate, in fact, her foster home tried to let her sleep in the bedroom, but Cricket wanted to sleep in her crate. She also spends the day in her crate when no one is home, without any issues.

Cricket is fine meeting strangers and kids and she is good with other dogs once she meets them. She can be a little awkward and will bark if she's leashed, but she lives in a house with 2 other dogs and is wonderful at the off-leash park. She is working on meeting new dogs on leash and it will only be a matter of time before she perfects that too. Cricket is also great with cats! Surprisingly, she's very comfortable around them. I would still caution that interactions with cats were supervised, just because she's so big, but when she was at our last adopt-a-thon, she went to the 'cat corner' and totally relaxed and hung out with all the kitties, the entire time she was there.

Cricket also has a great recall and loves going to the off leash park. She loves to run and play, but she's very attentive and will come the second you call her. She loves being outside and her favourite toys are balls and kongs, she also loves car rides! Actually, there really isn't much that she doesn't love about life! She's such a happy dog.

Cricket will be a great family pet for people who want an indoor and outdoor companion and she would do well in a home with other dogs or on her own.

Why is she still with ARF? She just is waiting for the right family. Now that she's outgrowing her puppy phase, she just really needs her forever home! If you think you could be her forever home, fill out an application today! You'll be glad you did!
